Dutch Power Cows team founder

Postby [DPC]DeApen~Adm.Spock » Mon Jan 01, 2007 9:01 pm

The Dutch Power Cows (DPC) have been participating in this project for a while now. A lot of us would like to make it an official DPC project, but for that the founder rights need to be transferred to the "crew". The correct Email of the crew is "projects(at)dutchpowercows.org"

For more information please check: DPC

"We" (since I'm not speaking for me alone) kindly request this from the project administrators.

Looked through the Site Admin's "powers" and there seems to be nothing we can do for teams. (This came up before but I don't recall whether Carl and others on the dev. team were able to do anything.) Sorry.

Happy 2007.

According to BOINCstats, the founder, Gerard Schutrups, returned a cpdn trickle a week ago, so he is still 'around'.
You should email him on the team site, and have him transfer control.
The opinions here are my own, and the help ideas either mine, or that gleaned from other posts.

Took a trip down memory lane by visiting the "Classic" CPDN site, as that's the source of my memory of Dutch Power Cows. Found the team listed, but the hot link points to your team site, not a list of members, as I expected. I hoped to find a link to the address you want.

(In the process, I learned that the team Carl created for us when testing the concept, CPDN Original Beta Testers, no longer exists. Ah, existence is so transitory...)

Also tried to Search this board for Gerard's name, which would permit a PM, but also without success. Ditto with Google -- 700+ hits, but the ones checked merely took me in circles. (In all likelihood, I traced your steps.) Perhaps his telephone or email listing is somewhere down Google's list...?

Well, the DPC crew ofcourse dug out the forum and website databases, but alas, also to no avail....

Option would be to have the team dropped from the database? so we can start all over (not my favorite one, but an option nonetheless...)

If he's on a different project and also a member of the 'official' DPC, then you could get his email that way (try boincStats).

I don't think there's anything we can do about it at present. The next release of the Boinc server code has a way to transfer control from a nonresponding founder, I don't know when that version will appear here.

-- Edit:

If my post doesn't quite make sense in context, it was written an hour before I posted it, before the prior two posts appeared...

BoincStats does list him on a number of projects, including SETI. So if you look at the SETI team member list, he should be there.

That's great news! If we can't get into contact, that would most certainly be the way to go, and we can wait for it. I Mean it's not like like there are lives at stake ;)

Actually the climate projects are unusual in that if you move from team to team, all your historic credit goes to the new team. So it isn't as bad as it sounds.

But your best bet would be to contact him via his SETI/DPC team membership since you'll have the email from there (and if that fails, there's always the takeover option which will appear at some point in the future).

The takeover works by sending an email to the founder, which they have to respond to (to say either OK or No). If they don't respond to the email within some specific timelimit then the team is transferred.

As a member of the Dutch Power Cows Crew I can say that we found an email-adress of mr. Schutrups so we will try to contact him.

Thanks for your suggestions and support.

Thanks to your advise we have found the e-mail adress of Gerard Schutrups. I have send him al e-mail with a request move the founder rights to the dpccrew account.

Now we just have to wait a response of him.

Thank you for your help

Hope your 'takeover bid' is successful. :D

My suggestion to email him was based on the (apparently erroneous) assumption that part of the idea of teams was to 'talk', and that the founder made his email address available for contact.
Easy to see that I'm not in a team. :?
Oh, well, you got there in the end, which is more than can be said of a few other team founders who have just 'disappeared into the sunset'.

Hi,
Team " Scotland " had the same problem of a founder disapeering for months so we all took a vote and I ended up with the job :) as has been said above there are now several projects using the transfer of leader button on the team page which sends a notification to the team leader if they dont respond in I think 2 months the transfer is complete :)
hope everything works out
best regards
Ian

if not I can manually move it (I think I did for Team Scotland) --- I'd hate to leave the cows out to pasture too long! ;-)
