Preferences from Climate change

I am using grid republic... but

my linux box says it is getting it preferances from climagechange.net, location default.
But the preferences it is getting says that they were last changed at the start of the month,
whereas I changed them about 5 minutes ago.

1. Shouldnt my machine ignore all preferences except those from grid republic ?

2. Why is it not reflecting the changes I just made on the climate change.net site.
It is like it is finding another machine ? And why is it not honouring my grid republic settings

I don't think any of the moderators (and probably not many of the regular forum helpers) use GridRepublic or any account manager so please bear with us if we ask what may seem rather dumb questions.

There seem to be several issues here.

First of all, did you mean that you have just changed your preferences at the climateprediction.net website in your account and not the climate change website? (There used to be a project called the BBC Climate Change Experiment but I don't think you mean that.)

I've looked at the GridRepublic website to see what they say about changing one's preferences. Here's the GR instruction page for preferences.

I don't think their instructions are brilliantly clear. For example, when you read the first sentence: 'Most preferences are set at the website, not in the desktop application.' you could wonder which particular preferences they mean (there are 3 groups), which website they are referring to and which desktop application they are talking about.

The 3 preferences groups are:

Computing preferences
Community preferences
Project preferences eg climateprediction.net preferences

I think the GR instructions mean that you change your Computing preferences in your GR account, but your Community and Project preferences in your account on one of the projects. However, they do say 'try this' as if there's more than one way of editing preferences.

Which preferences are you trying to change please?
